Coppelia's Dance & Movement
About this pro
We had our first dance lesson last night with Coppelia and could not have been happier with our experience. Neither of us has ever danced and we are way beyond the age of easy movement, yet Coppelia made us feel at ease and we learned a lot. Most of all, we had a truly enjoyable experience - it was so much fun! - and cannot wait to return next week. In addition to being a truly talented dancer, Coppelia is warm and friendly and you get the clear impression she wants you to enjoy dance and movement for yourself. Her studio is warm and inviting and the personal attention we received was unbelievable. She taught to our needs (and believe me we are starting at the most basic level) and made both of us feel like we had the ability to dance. I would recommend Coppelia to anyone - she will not disappoint! We are looking forward to working with her on a regular basis.May 23, 2018

Coppelia is so talented and so sweet! She was very proactive in making sure we were prepared before we even got there. She started simple since we were beginners! We can't wait to keep working with her!Sep 7, 2017VerifiedCoppelia K.'s reply
Thank you Hallie! I am so excited to work with you and Steven. Your dance is going to look great.
Coppelia has been great. She is patient and makes sure you look right. She makes it fun and the time flies by before you know it. I will take more lessons from her and refer her to everyone.Aug 5, 2017Verified

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I enjoy getting to know my student in the first session. We will determine their goals in dance, be it stress relief and exercise, developing a fun, new hobby, getting ready for a special event, or taking their dancing to a higher level. We will also determine with which dance or dances to begin their dance journey.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Dancing has always been my passion and I began dancing as a child. My first teacher was my grandmother from the South of Spain, who taught me Flamenco. From there I went on to study many forms of dance, including ballet, jazz, hip hop and I even studied Flamenco in Spain. However, I discovered my first love when I began dancing Ballroom over 20 years ago. Being that I am from Havana, Cuba, it was a natural fit. Since then, I have trained with some of the best in Dance Sport. I also enjoy competing and have placed in many Ballroom dance competitions. I am a personal trainer with The National Academy of Sports Medicine, as well as a former co owner of a gym. In addition, I worked in the healthcare industry for 15 years as a Registered Pharmacist. This gives me a unique perspective on movement and the body as a whole, that allows me to better serve my students.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?I helped to organize a Ballroom/Latin Dance Showcase called "Dare to Dance." We brought dancers of all ages, sizes and experience together to perform in this event. It was very rewarding to help co ordinate this event and to see newcomers to Ballroom daring to step out of their comfort zone and dance.
