Introduction: I hold a BA in Piano Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Studies from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, and a Master’s in Music Education from the University of Colorado Boulder. I currently serve as the Director of Orchestras at Frederick High School, a position I have held for four years. In addition, my five years touring, and my fifteen years as a professional musician, composer and producer, bring an experiential dimension to my instruction that is greatly beneficial. I am currently seeking dedicated students who are interesting in exploring jazz and contemporary music. My flexible curriculum is personalized and tailored to each student, empowering them to achieve their musical aims.
I have a deep passion for finding each student's individual entry point into a love of music, and building upon that to help them make music a lasting part of their life. I also greatly enjoy working with my students to help structure their practice time, so that it is spent productively and efficiently. I feel that practice is something many students are uncertain about or find intimidating, and this is something I address in various ways to help them make progress without feeling overwhelmed. I have been playing music for over twenty years, and have been performing for fifteen years. More than anything, I love to share the joy and richness that music has brought to my life with my students.
