Introduction: Music has always a huge part of my life. I have always loved creating it, performing it, and helping others to tap into their potential. I am a classically trained vocalist, so I am able to teach a healthy technical foundation that can be applied to many genres. In addition to the technical aspect of making music, I also work with artists to find the meaning in the music. I love connecting with my students and working with them to help them find their voice. I love seeing my students develop both technically and artistically. I enjoy working with my students through any technical obstacles, performance anxiety, etc. and meeting them on the other side--in a place where they feel like they can articulate what they want to share with the world.

John gave me my first voice lesson, and it was fantastic! I was incredibly nervous. I only sing and play guitar from what I learned as a kid in middle school and I do it on my own when I'm alone. I was very nervous about singing in front of other people, but John made me feel incredibly comfortable and was very encouraging. He started the lesson by asking what I hoped to get out of the lesson and how I wanted to use it. This helped guide what we focused on and helped me consider what I could work on away from the lesson. He also had a hand-written, personal lesson ready to go for me when we got there; starting with warm-ups and technique tips to moving onto to chord progressions. The more comfortable I got, the easier it was for him and I to work together. He gave me specifics on breathing mechanics and classical techniques that I could work on my own. I was interested in classical, but he doesn't only have lessons for this. It was truly a great experience and I'm grateful for his patience and encouragement throughout the day. I went from nervous and worried at the start to excited about trying different things we had learned throughout the lesson. It was a blast and I hope to continue working with him. Thanks John!

I took a voice lesson with John and loved it! He is a wonderful musician and supportive teacher which really helped with my nervousness about singing in front of others. I appreciated that he designed a lesson tailored to my abilities and goals, and then gave me practical things to work on at home until my next lesson. Thanks John!
