Introduction: I make it important to personalize lessons to meet the goals of each student - whether you want to learn to read classical music, improvise and play solos, write your own songs, or sing and play at the same time - whatever your goal is, I’m confident that you’ll make steady progress and get better at your instrument if you dedicate consistent practice to apply the ideas and exercises we learn in lessons. I send notes for each lesson so that you have material to work on during the week, and I refer students to relevant educational resources online that will help them become well-rounded musicians. I have been teaching guitar, piano, music theory, bass, ukulele, and singing lessons professionally for 10 years, and have a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Gonzaga University. I teach private lessons at my home and through a nonprofit that provides music lessons for under-privileged kids, as well as group rehearsals and privately at the School of Rock in Issaquah. During covid I primarily teach online over Zoom, but I’m fully vaccinated with a booster shot if you feel comfortable coming to my home for an in person lesson.
