Introduction: My students excel and are unique in their understanding of the building blocks of music: theory (fluency of note reading, accurate pitch and rhythm) and natural ease in their navigating around the instrument. I enjoy so much about teaching. Of course, at the most basic, I watch my students grow in ease and understanding, and despite my many years of experience, with each lesson I teach, I learn something in return. But the greatest reward by far is when I observe my students developing their own personal signature, a "musical voice," if you will-- a style all their own, embodying fluency and mastery, and independent of my input.
