Introduction: So many people treat public speaking and speech training with the same hesitation they might employ visiting the dentist. But it needn't be this way. It is the highest priority to me that my clients and students: 1) Have fun, and not just receive boring instruction on how to "speak correctly"; and 2) Realize their own strengths as a speaker, and not simply try to be someone else's definition of success. Using my background in storytelling and theatre education, I work personally with children and adults to transform your speech from a simple reading of words off a page into a dynamic and personalized performance, an intelligent delivery of well-prepared thoughts. But the work we will do through the Outspkn training goes far beyond a single speech or a short term goal. Through Outspkn, you will learn to find your voice, speak confidently, and be truly outspoken. I am not interested in telling you what to do, as if there is a single correct way to give a speech. The beauty of my speech coaching--and the part of my job that I love so much--is helping my clients realize their own innate strengths as presenters and speakers while giving tips and tricks along the way. I have worked with people of all ages and abilities for four years now, and I have come to learn that there is no voice that does not have something important to say. Everyone's voice deserves to be heard. Together, we will build up your confidence and skills so that you are not just listened to, but really heard.

Daphna is a superstar. Her insight into the art of speaking is always on target and she shares her advice in a charismatic and fun-loving way. I teach The Art of Speakling in a Rabbinical School. I have been doing public speaking as part of my work for decades. However, recently, I had a major film shoot where I had to carry some of the video as well as provide the narration. I didn't think after all these years there would be much more I would need to learn. But turned out - I was very wrong. Daphna helped me prepare for the presentation of my life. Even though she was not familiar with the subject matter I was presenting on, Daphna helped me put together the material in a way that no one else could. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free 30-minute consultation in which we can get to know each other and address your specific goals and how you'd like to measure them. During this consultation, we will design a public-speaking course that is specifically right for you. If you are looking for one session to just focus on your speech, we will dive right in and work on the problem/anxiety-inducing areas after a brief vocal warm up. If you are looking for more comprehensive training, we will focus on vocal health, confidence/overcoming stage fright, posture, pace, and other topics as I see fit. We will also take time to study great orators, deconstructing what makes a great speech great.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
This year I was the public speaking consultant for the women's rabbinic Homiletics class at Yeshivat Maharat in Riverdale, NY. It was amazing to see this group of 15 women grow and ask questions and seek to better themselves as public figures. I was able to teach them new ways to focus on proper breathing and power stances, but most importantly, I focused on helping them realize their own individuals strengths as speakers.

What specifically am I trying to work on? Does the coach have a standard practice for public speaking or do they work on a case-by-case basis? Will I have fun while learning?
