FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
10 Lesson Package Deal - If you pay for 9 lessons up front, then you get the 10th lesson free! 24hr Cancellation Policy - If the student cancels the lesson less than 24 hours before the scheduled time, then the student still has to pay for the lesson. Rescheduling may be possible. Lessons where I travel to you have an extra $10 charge.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I have a core curriculum that I give to every student - technique exercises, theory, ear training and note reading and writing. But every student has their own path through music. I feel that my job as a teacher is to give students a set of tools that they can use to create and express what they want through music. I can be a guide along the path, but it's the student's path to walk. I start with an evaluation to see what the student's abilities are and to get a feel for where they are and what they know in general. The rest is created depending on where the students want to go and what they need to get there.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied music for more that 23 years. I started in school orchestras and marching bands, and I was learning drum set along with all of that. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2005 with a degree in performance, where I studied jazz drum set in its many forms, frame drums, South Indian rhythmic systems, polyrhythms, West African drumming, traditional South American rhythms adapted to drum set, studio drumming, and many other things. I have been studying tabla intensely for the past 13 years, and I am a disciple of Pandit Samir Chatterjee.
