I've been teaching voice for over 25 years and I received a master's degree in voice performance and vocal pedagogy (teaching voice) from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee. I've done additional studies in pop singing and songwriting at the Musician's Institute and opera studies at the New England Conservatory.
I've taught at the Boston Arts Academy, a public arts high school, and at the college level at Brown University. My lectures on strengthening the diaphragm have been cited in publications by Betty Mather at the University of Iowa and Jennifer Cluff at the Vancouver Island University.
My students learn proper vocal technique applied to rock, pop, musical theater, classical, and opera repertoires and include celebrities, Broadway stars (American Idiot, On Your Feet), and have appeared on Q'Viva! The Chosen, The Voice, and American Idol. I have helped students sign deals with Warner Bros., Capitol, Cash Money, Universal, and Sony.
In addition to on-going vocal technique, I also do audition prep, performance coaching, and produce audition backing tracks. I also host a musical theater ensemble that offers students performance opportunities, which can be recorded and used in performance reels.
I'm also a songwriter and have worked in A&R at Warner Bros. Records, doing artist development and management where I coached our artists and wrote songs for them and I had the great privilege to write with a GRAMMY award winning producer. I have performed locally at the House of Blues and Universal City Walk and my single "Take A Look" received radio play in Europe and placements in TV commercials.
In addition to singing in musical theater, classical, and opera (choruses of the Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Aperta, Opera International, and the Washington Opera), I have performed as a modern dancer in the White Oak Dance Project with Mikhail Baryshnikov and am a SAG-AFTRA actor and have appeared on Las Vegas (NBC), Close To Home (CBS) and numerous commercials including campaigns for Bud Light, Nissan Murano, and Lunesta.
I received a bachelor's degree in Anthropology and French Literature from Colgate University and have lived in France and Italy and have studied French, Italian, and German.
I am committed to arts education and have worked at the education dept. of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. I love developing talent and sharing my varied experiences with my students. My students not only learn to sing properly, but they learn how to thrive as performers. I get a lot of pride from the success of my students.
