Our first remodel project was to gut and remodel a downstairs bathroom in a thirty year old home. Not knowing any contractors, we went online. After getting several bids we had follow-up meetings with a couple of the contractors. We decided to go with George Richmond with American Home Remodel. (AHR). We were obviously nervous and had limited knowledge about construction and materials. George treated us with respect and was very helpful throughout the entire process. He didnt just come in and slam the job and leave, I learned a great deal from him and his helper Matt along the way. His knowledge of construction techniques and materials ended up saving us several thousand dollars. One example was the choice of cabinet he recommended. We had priced cabinets at the big box stores, in the price range of $2.5k-$3K. George showed us cabinets of equal or better quality for less than half that cost. The only disappointment on the project was removing the popcorn off the ceiling and re-texturing. This did not turnout as we had hoped but, its OK and will be an easy fix in the future. He and Matt were very contentious about quality and cleanliness. We will call AHR with confidence for our next project.

When I called for an estimate, he promptly returned my call and showed up for the appointment on time, which is hard to find in Austin. We needed our kitchen remodeled, and George actually had a better source for the kitchen cabinets than we had that were less expensive and no melamine involved. In any case, he did a great job, and we are happy.

American Home Remodel rescued my brand new bathrooms from the multitude of mistakes caused by our builders! They completely demolished the tile backsplashes and surrounding tile enclosures in all my bathrooms. They took pride in their work and made sure that the work area was completely clean, safe, and water-tight before preceding with the remodel. The tile was laid with precision and care. George, Matt, and their crew made every effort to complete the job to our satisfaction and their high standards! Thank you!

I estimate materials and labor and provide an estimate via email.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Decide upon design, I help, select materials, I take customer to select countertops, cabinets, tile, sign contract, I only take one Job at a time and have quick completion times. Most time taken to do kitchen - 3 weeks, most time to do bathroom - 2 weeks
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All family were builders, started at age nine. I have a MBA from University of Washington, A General contractors license from California and am licensed in Texas as a general contractor
