FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most people don't realize that working with a travel consultant costs them nothing! Yes, you read that right We are FREE to our clients. The companies we book you with, pay us commission. Many people today do not understand the value of using a travel professional. We are free to use, and save you time, and money and most certainly know how to add value to your trip.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to speak to my potential clients via phone or in person. If someone is planning on spending a good amount of money for a vacation, careful thought should be given to the personality, likes/dislikes of the clients, and finding the right destination for them. Once I gather that info, I typically present a quote within 24 hours. I like to give clients 2 or 3 choices.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree from Arizona State University, but all my travel training has been on the job. I started working at a corporate travel agency in 1989 and stayed with various corporate agencies until just after 9/11. At that point the industry changed drastically, and I thought it was time for a change. I worked many other positions to make ends meet, until someone brought the idea of being a home based leisure agent to my attention in 2014. I wanted and needed a flexible type of career, and since I had previous experience, it seemed to be the perfect fit. Since then, I attend all types of training events for various product lines, such as Sandals, Globus, various Cruise lines. My home office has a yearly training opportunity which I take advantage of, as well as attending CLIA conferences and earning my certificate toward being a certified cruise counselor. There are also unlimited numbers of webinars available to us to train in specific areas.
