Hired on Thumbtack

We had part of our backyard fence removed and replaced. They were very professional, with a prompt itemized estimate. Started when they said they would, cleaned up everything, and finished on schedule. Would use them again.

We hired Slaughter Construction for a small backyard privacy fence. He was very prompt at replying, and started the fence job only a business day after he originally planned, which was still pretty quick. We also had concerns about the spacing between the pickets being uneven, and he went to check on that.

Jeremy does not do what he promises. He was hired to replace my fence and puppy proof it, which he did not. He came back to "Puppy proof" the fence and made even more problems. He told me he would dig a trench and put a board in the ground (6 inches below fence line) then build the fence on top. He didn't. My back fence curves so much that you can not see the end of the fence line if you stand at one end. The gate had a 3 inch gap at the bottom that a small dog could get through and guess what? Yep, my dogs got through it! Nails are sticking out of the boards. Who doesn't use screws for a wood fence? Even I know it will last longer. I will admit, the wood is pretty. To fix the gate, it looks like he used scraps from other jobs to finish my gate. I can't believe that he could be proud of his work. After 5 weeks of listening to his promises that he would fix my concerns, I've given up! I now have to find a reputable contractor to fix his horrible job. Please don't be duped by his words, he doesn't live up to them.
Slaughter Construction's reply
The gate is off the ground so that it would swing open as the sidewalk is destroyed and has bricks sticking out on the swing side. The top of the fence is as the customer asked matching the ground on each and every single plank instead, I told her when she asked that this would create differences in the top but she told me all she cared about was that they were all touching the bottom. The back fence curves as the property line curves. We used the existing holes from the poles that were removed, ensuring that we kept the fence on its previous line. The final picture is the matching up of the fence to a tree that is growing right in the middle of the property line and getting it as close to the tree so her dog doesn't escape. There is a secondary gate that opens on the inside that she didn't picture that covered the difference from the gate since her sidewalk was so trashed. Built her the second inside gate free of charge.
