FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are no hidden fees. The price quoted includes as much or as little of me as you need at your wedding or rehearsal, including getting together before hand to talk things over. It's your special day, and I'll make sure I get it right. If you need help putting together a printed program for the service, I have samples I can show you. When counseling couples for marriage or family issues, I simply charge a per-hour rate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually like to meet with the couple at a neutral place, say over dinner. Sometimes my wife comes with me as an extra ear. We get to know the couple, their desires, their story, and what they want or don't want in the ceremony. I pay attention to detail. I make a few suggestions and we go from there. I value communication, so I will ask enough questions to make the wedding day something that everyone looks forward to. My personal slogan is: "From 'Yes' to 'I do!'"
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I not only have a doctorate degree – but twelve years of higher education all in the areas of Theology (Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas, Texas), Bible (Philadelphia College of Bible, Phila, PA), and Spiritual Leadership (Regent University, Virginia Beach). In addition, I served as the chairman of a non-profit Christian counseling organization for five years (Cedar Rapids, Iowa). As part of my doctorate, I did post-graduate (doctoral) work in clinical psychology at Regent University (School of Counseling and Human Services). During my master’s degree, five of my electives were taken in pre-marriage, marriage, family, group counseling, and clinical (hospital) visitation. I am certified to administer and interpret PREPARE/ENRICH & MATE Inventories, and Certified to administer the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis. I also spent a year living in Jerusalem, Israel, which can sometimes color the Bible passages I share at weddings!
