FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have several methods of pricing my services depending on the scope of the project. For my clients who want to utilize my services on a one-time consultation basis, there is a flat fee rate for a minimum 2-hour consultation. This is a very popular option for those who need the professional advice and opinions of a designer but choose to either "go it themselves" or they have their own trade contacts they wish to use for their project. For a more in-depth project that involves hands-on designer services, I utilize either a"project/flat fee" rate or a percentage rate or an hourly rate or a combination of the above that is discussed in depth with the client depending on their job requirements and preferences.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During our introductory telephone call, the client gives me an overall idea of the scope of the project. We meet at the project space for an initial consultation. I gather the facts, view the space, discuss the budget and obtain a timeframe. If the client wishes to proceed further, an agreement is determined. Once retained, the project then goes into high drive while all elements of the design are researched, gathered and eventually presented to the client for selection and approval. Then follows specifying, ordering/purchasing and follow-up and finally the eventual installation of the project. Oftentimes, renovations are involved on either a small or large scale which involve contractors who are directed and personally supervised by my company.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My education came from the certificate and eventual bachelor's program at the Interior Designers Institute in Newport Beach, California which was a rigorous and comprehensive 3-year program and, at the time, the only FIDER-accredited (now CIDA) school in the state. Since my early education and training with several designers, I'm involved in ongoing trade-related seminars and educational forums to stay current with the trends of an ever-developing and evolving industry.
