Introduction: I am the founder and director of a women's center in Durham, an educational consultant, ordained spiritual support specializing in trauma and transition support, licensed teacher, and trained public speaker, storyteller, and group facilitator. I have worked for over two decades helping women and youth to build strong interpersonal communication, public speaking, and literacy skills, grow their community, professional, and personal networks and amplify their voices and footprints in the world. I have done public speaking and storytelling in schools, local organizations, local places of worship, and for various community events since 2000. Most recently, I am now offering individual and couple life and spiritual coaching and public speaking classes at our center. My services are offered on a sliding scale based on income in order to support clients from diverse backgrounds.

Rachel conducted a naming ceremony for our daughter in November. She was extremely helpful in the planning stages, consulting with us by phone. First, she asked us what we wanted in a ceremony, then she made helpful suggestions and provided resources for further ideas. Once we came up with a plan for the ceremony, she provided a wonderful service, with prayers, insightful readings and information from Jewish texts, and wonderful songs that all seemed to perfectly fit our values and the type of ceremony we wanted. She kept the focus of the service on our family and on our daughter, which is what we wanted. All of the beautiful things she added were in line with my values and the values within the Jewish faith that I hope to pass on to my daughter. She clearly spent a lot of time preparing for the ceremony, and it went very smoothly--despite that things are typically chaotic in the first days taking care of a newborn. I value her gentle manner, her ability to craft the ceremony to fit our values, her knowledge of ritual and her insight. I would recommend Rachel to anyone, very highly.

Rinah Rachel officiated our wedding five years ago. The ceremony was beautiful, personal, and integrated not only our story, but our two faiths and cultures. Many family members came up and told us afterwards what a beautiful ceremony it was and a few people have told us that they copied elements from it in their own weddings.

Such a gifted facilitator, who envisions programs that are powerful, poignant, and unique. I have experienced many rituals led and facilitated by Rinah Rachel. She is an extraordinary leader. She taps into a creative force, listens to the group she is leading and works with participants to create something truly collaborative. Her presence put you at ease and also enlivens you. I have left Rinah's rituals with sweet memories of poignant moments and moments of hilarity, both equally close in my mind. I have greater insight into myself and a feeling of community with those I have shared the ritual with. I would recommend her to lead and facilitate any life cycle or community ritual.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I work on a sliding scale for weddings between $300-500 based on income. This includes a free consultation and travel within 30 miles from Durham. Additional planning sessions are 75-85$ per hour and can be done in person or via skype or face time. I make a point of meeting clients where they are. I do not turn anyone away for lack of funds. I trust people will pay what they can and based on the quaility service I provide.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with a free phone or in-person consultation. As needed, I schedule additional sessions for visioning and clarifying what kind of ceremony you want and need and how to integrate your friends and family. This has included telling love and meeting stories, creating vows, and weaving parts in the ceremony for everyone. I am conversant in diverse religious and spiritual traditions and use sacred texts as requested. Finally I create a working document via google docs that we can all edited as we go.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's in education and 20+ years working with children, adults, families and communities as a teacher, tutor, storyteller, and artist. I am an ordained and licensed officiant and spiritual guide with 7 years of training and experience.
