- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over the last 20 years, Calee has studied various instruments including piano, voice, guitar, marching bass drum, trumpet, baritone, and tuba. Through her first years of college, she double-majored in Vocal Performance and Music Education, eventually earning a degree in Professional Music. These years, coupled with her training as an adolescent, equipped Calee with all of the tools she needs to become a professional musician. Through these years, she learned writing, arranging, and recording skills; piano and singing skills in various genres; how to professionaly lead a rehearsal; and most importantly, she learned how to pass her knowledge on to you :) After college, Calee was fortunate enough to be invited back to teach full-time at The School for Music Vocations. Here, she taught a variety of courses including Music Theory, Recording Studio, nationally touring vocal jazz ensembles, a regionally touring concert choir, as well as private lessons in jazz voice, classical voice, and classical piano. In 2017, Calee moved from small-town Iowa to Denver to open a private lesson studio and to pursue her music career. Currently, she teaches piano, voice, and music theory lessons full-time at Creative Roots Music Studio & Denver Music Institute.
