FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is not standard as I work with a wide range of projects. I consider how long it will take me to work plus the price of materials I am using. I get a good idea of what it will take upon talking to the customer and getting the full story of the object.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I get as much information from the customer as possible. That way I can give the most accurate estimate. Generally for small repairs I charge upon completion. With bigger more involved projects, I will do half upon start and half upon completion. My teaching is charged hourly. I prefer 2hr sessions over over one hour sessions because more can be learned in a two hours. Teaching is what I love doing the most. For me it's about human connection and mentoring someone learning the skills to communicate their story affectively and artistically.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor degree in Fine Art from Washburn University where I worked in all the disciplines. My grandmother was a doll maker and taught me the mechanics of porcine dolls, German Nutcrackers and the use of sculptable resins. Currently, I work teaching handwork (knitting, crochet, needlework, sewing) to grade school children.
