Introduction: Art is an endless voyage of knowledge. The exploration of different techniques, ceaseless practice, and the analysis of great artists’ masterpieces are essential attributes for the perfection of my art classes and the formation of my students’ individualism and professionalism. I believe that art education fuels the imagination, boost self-confidence, expands the taste and sculpts one’s intelligence. Art lessons don’t only take place in the classroom. A strong intellectual connection between the student and the teacher, in addition to art history and visual culture make an art program flawless. The combination of all what I’ve mentioned gives the professor a chance to be a part of the student’s developmental journey. The atmosphere in my art classes is very relaxed, yet very professional. I always prefer to create a comfortable zone that engages my students in the creative process and helps them absorb knowledge and understanding. I always seek to develop not only their professionalism, but also their sense of responsibility towards themselves and their class mates. My students should always be present in class. They must also study the material given, hand in their work on time and regard each other with outmost respect and responsibility. I treat each and every student individually. In return, they always appreciate the hard work that I put into their development in class and during the extra support lessons that I provide. Young students are our future. That is why we have to share the education of the Arts with great devotion and continuous hard work to enrich their academic and personal capabilities. To always try to make my lessons very special, fresh and different, I provide my students with new and original methods that stir their interest, awaken their fantasy and give them opportunities to demonstrate their unique individualism. Being a teacher and a mentor is my passion. I serve this passion with pure pleasure and immense energy. I try constantly to develop my teaching abilities, and offer various drawing materials to my students for the sake of facilitating the process. Students need a pedagogue who works persistently, is just, and always cares about them. Working as a Professor of the Arts in Cairo for almost 15 years reinforced these values and standards in me. It gave me the experience to prove to my students that besides verbal communication, there’s a great international language of ART. It is a pre-conceived notion that being an artist means drawing, painting, sculpting, and sketching all day. But for me, being an artist is more than just mixing different colors on a palette. It is my way of life, and its love runs through, and is evident in my personality. It is a medium through which I express myself with complete and utter freedom. I can mix, blend, highlight and contour anything I want; I can create everything out of anything and that’s why I’ve always been so passionate about it. The fact that Art is so limitless, gives spacious room for imagination. The sheer luxury of having no boundaries is something I always take advantage of. I transform any ordinary object into something creative. For instance, I can take that vase and apple you look at every day, and change it into something with a whole new meaning and edge. I can translate the visions that stem from words or thoughts into bold and powerful paintings just by the stroke of my brush. I can capture incredible moments with the tip of my pencil, and reveal the true essence rather than literal likeness of what otherwise would’ve been a boring photograph of a beautiful figure. I believe there’s no substitute for the force and happiness of this process. It’s a process that helps me share my vision of the world to the word and for its existence, I am eternally grateful. I demonstrate my gratitude by passing on and spreading my knowledge of the arts to those who want to be acquainted with it, and the priceless happiness that it brings to the artist. My love in art boosts all areas of portrait. I have been drawing portraits since I was a child. I carefully craft visual clues to tell the story of the person in my artwork. Sometimes I may employ a wide ranging palette of colors; sometimes I restrict myself to a few colors. I always try to get under the skin of my sitter and reveal something about his or personality when painting a portrait. For me, exposing the inner self is more important than getting the physical features right. My portraits stand within the rich tradition of Faiyum mummy portraits that existed in Egypt in the 3rd century A.D. These portraitures have a contemporary appearance that is very evocative of modern artists, even though their early roots can be traced from Egypt through the Renaissance to the present! The characters look back at us – history recorded in their eyes. Due to my background in artistic glass design, I also enjoy the technical process of creating each glass work since it so unexpected and can go in different directions before it is completed. This unplanned approach is vital because it leaves open the possibilities of discovering something absolutely amazing. The process of creating art is a magical and a secret journey for me.

I attended Drawing and Watercolor classes taught by Nino. She was very knowledgeable and went out of her way to help me. She even gave me a very nice set of watercolor paints which she had sent to her from her home country the Republic of Georgia. I consider her a dear friend.
