FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$40 for a 30 minute lesson, $55 for a 45 minute lesson, and $70 for an hour long lesson at my home pool. A second student may be added to the lesson for an additional $20 per lesson. (Semi-private) - example a 45 minute semi-private is $75. I can also teach at a pool you have usage of. Beyond a ten mile radius of my home in Livermore, I charge $2.50 per mile for travel time and expense, which will be included in your quote. Example- Brentwood is 18 miles away, therefore a 30 minute lesson will be $60, which is $40 plus 8x$2.50 = $20 for travel.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with an adult, I ask a lot of questions to find out what the client is looking for. Do you have a fear of water? Have you had lessons before? Do you know how to swim and want to get better? Is there something specific you would like to work on? I then tailor the lesson to meet the needs of the client. When working with your child, I am able to gather their skill level within the first 2 or 3 minutes of the lesson. From there I work towards making them water safe quickly if they are not already, and tailor the lesson to their skill level. For a level 1 swimmer the focus is on making them comfortable and getting them to float on their own on both their back and their front. Level 2 becomes more about moving through the water and getting themselves to safety, introducing the freestyle and elementary backstroke. Level 3 enhances those skills and introduces the "big arm" backstroke. Level 4 teaches them breaststroke and sharpens their freestyle, elementary backstroke, and backstroke, building up their endurance and working on their form, and begins them diving. Level 5 enhances level 4's skills and introduces the butterfly and flip turning, and Level 6 enhances those skills and builds their strength and endurance in the water. There are of course many other skills I cover, but that's the overall program in a written nutshell! With any sport, its about repetition which leads to muscle memory, which leads to better swimming.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I swam competitively from age 7 to 18. I began volunteering to teach swimming at age 12. I have coached and taught swimming to well over 1,000 students. I have over 15 years of experience working with everyone from babies to adults. I love what I do!
