FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a comprehensive and powerful discounted online course (The SAT Masterclass) during the school year that is only $150 a month for 15-20 hours of tutoring (4 hours a week). Combining this course with a few one-on-one sessions is the most cost-effective way to receive professional elite tutoring that will help your child achieve 50-250 point improvements over the course of the year. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Just like a doctor gives their patients a physical exam to get the overall picture their health, I start by observing the student take each section of the SAT online and from this experience I have a big-picture view of what they are doing well and not-so-well. I have them use their mouse to show me where their eyes are and have them think out loud so I can understand their thought process. While they do this, I take copious notes on their strengths and weaknesses and point out major strategies they are doing well and others they need to work on. From this point on, I drill their weaknesses in both strategy and content. I assign them books and homework tailored to help them nullify their weaknesses and turn them into strengths as well as learn and master the content they may be a bit shaky in. I teach them tons of things during this process, how to study effectively, how to learn from their mistakes, what not to study, etc. Then I make them take a real SAT and we re-assess where they are and start over.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For the past 2 years, I have helped students improve their SAT scores by 100-250 points on average. I currently score in the 99th percentile on reading/writing and in the 99th percentile in math on official SAT/ACT practice tests. In college, I graduated cum laude ("with honors") and received a distinguished student award for my exceptional work in my undergraduate studies. I have a degree in anthropology and minored in environmental science, and Asian studies. I went back to school for organic chemistry and performed at the top of my class. My main job for the last decade has been mentoring youth and adults in leadership and personal growth in outdoor and academic settings. When we work together, I am committed to your success and will go the extra mile. I look forward to getting to know how I can support you to feel confident, competent, and excited about what is next for you or your children's life.
