FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The most important thing is that YOU grasp the fun and rewarding experience of playing the Guitar! But....I do need to live and pay bills right?! I am very flexible in my pricing if a person is DEDICATED. Typically, my fee is $60 per hour. However, by purchasing lessons in packs of 4 (ie once-a-week lessons for 1 month) you will receive a discount. Feel free to ask my any questions....Scot
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I understand that taking the steps to learn a musical instrument can remove someone from their comfort zone, and possibly make them feel nervous or self conscious. This happened to me as well, when I took my first lesson many years ago. The irony is.....why on Earth would you be good at something you've never done! Instead, you should be rewarded for being brave enough to meet a new person and start a new musical routine. However, I promise you this: You will be motivated beyond belief after just one lesson. You will grasp things about the guitar and music theory in general after ONE lesson. I've crafted a program that embraces everyone, regardless of lack of experience. And if you are already a player, we will access where you are and point to a new level of accomplishment for you to focus your sights on. A typical first lesson with a complete newcomer would be to ask you where you'd like to be as a player. Who do you listen to? Who do you admire? What kind of music excites you? What song would you be excited to learn first? The best experience comes from an even combination of theory, technique, and fun song playing.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started playing my grandfather's hand-me-down acoustic when I was a kid in the 80's. I took lessons early on and embraced a disciplined routine of practicing and reading about guitar technique. I have played pretty much every day since then. I minored in Music Theory in college and learned new techniques like finger-picking and palm-muting along the way as I amassed my small collection of acoustic, electric and classical guitars. It sounds funny but it's true: If I take even 2 or 3 days off from playing....I start to really feel like something is missing in my life:)
