Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Hi! My name is Zain and I am a recent graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Prior to starting a full-time job in New York City in January, I am tutoring both online and in-person (in or near Mason, Ohio). I have over 7 years of tutoring experience, having tutored primarily in standardized tests such as the PSAT, ACT, and SAT but also in school subjects such as Math, Science, English, Spanish, etc. I received an ACT score of 35 as well as a PSAT score of 230, both on my first attempt. I have also had quite a deal of success with AP tests, receiving a 5 on nine AP tests as well as an 800 on the Chemistry and U.S. History SAT II. As a result of my PSAT and AP scores, I was designated a National Merit Scholar and National AP Scholar with Distinction. Tutoring has always been a huge passion of mine, having tutored part-time in high school and college and also organized the tutoring program for Spanish National Honor Society. There is nothing I enjoy more than the moment the lightbulb goes off in a student's head as they understand a difficult concept or problem. I take pride in the excellent reviews I've received from previous students, as well as my ability to connect with students and ensure their long-term academic success. I am confident that I can help any student achieve his or her goals of increasing a standardized test score, improving a grade in a class, or even just better understanding a subject. As a Chemical Engineering major, I took classes all the way from Calculus to Differential Equations. As a result, I have a strong mastery of mathematics and the building blocks for success. I have also received a 36 on the Math section of the ACT as well as a 5 on the AP Calculus AP test and therefore have a strong familiarity with mathematics in standardized testing. I have a very solid understanding of the test strategies and answer patterns that are crucial to master in order to perform well on the Math sections of the ACT, SAT, or PSAT. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have regarding my expertise in subjects, recommendations from past students, a copy of my resume or Linkedin profile, or information on booking your first session!

Zain taught my son, Asher, in accounting. He was such a patient and wonderful tutor! I was so excited to see, that after trying several tutors, how much of a great fit he was for Asher. He is not only patient, but he also makes learning the material fun, and I’ve noticed a huge difference in how much Asher has retained from the lesson. Zain is extremely knowledgeable and versatile in what he teaches; Asher asked Zain if he could help him prepare for the upcoming ACT as well (without my prompting!). Looking forward to more lessons with Zain for my son. Highly, HIGHLY recommend him!

Zain did a great job of tutoring my daughter on the ACT. She was having trouble finishing the sections on time and Zain taught her some tricks that helped her answer questions more quickly. He also helped her figure out what questions she was having the most trouble with so she could focus on that. He helped her improve from a 30 to a 34 o the ACT which we are very thankful for for scholarship reasons.

Zain was exactly what we were looking for and clicked great with my son. He was able to help my son get his GMAT score up and also gave him advice on MBA admissions. Zain had recently taken the test and done very well so he was the perfect person to teach my son. Not only did Zain provide great help during the sessions, he also sent my son resources and extra practices so he could prepare effectively outside of their time together. I highly recommend Zain for anyone taking the GMAT.

We highly recommend Zain! He did a great job of helping our daughter improve her score. We started off with the SAT but Zain had her try the ACT too because he thought based on her learning style she could perform better on it. She did in fact do better on the ACT and with his help she was able to get a score high enough to meet the averages for the school she’s applying to. Could not recommend Zain enough, he has very good communication skills and kept us up to date on how our daughter was doing throughout her lessons and was always able to answer any questions we had very quickly. We will be using him if he is still available for our son's test prep as well.

Zain did an excellent job of tutoring my son. We had used a tutor before but they did not do nearly as good of a job at producing results. Zain was able to figure out where my son needed the most help and tailor a plan for him that allowed him to boost his score in 2 weeks on practice test and then jump from a 26 to a 31 on the ACT. We HIGHLY recommend him and are so glad we chose to work with him

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I start with an introductory phone call or meeting with the new student. We discuss his or her struggles with the test, ideal score, learning style, and any other questions he or she may have. I take a look at any old scores from previous attempts or results from a practice test in order to determine which areas to focus on and develop a timeline for our sessions. I then share this timeline with the student and get feedback before scheduling the first session.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with students of all ages, having tutored children as young as 12 and adults up to the age of 24.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I advise clients to find a tutor that can not only do well personally on the ACT, SAT, etc. but is also an effective communicator and understands how to teach students with varying learning styles, weaknesses, and more. A good tutor not only has the required knowledge of standardized tests but also has demonstrated experience in being able to effectively convey that learning to others. In addition, a tutor must also be able to analyze your previous results and progress in order to determine where your focus should lie in the future, otherwise he or she will not be putting your time to its best use to get the best return on investment.
