Introduction: ~Current students excel in classical, musical theater, folk, rock, pop, jazz, blues, gospel, heavy metal, and country music. ~Students are introduced to each other and encouraged to participate in a supportive singing community by exchanging music, ideas, and constructive comments. All students are taught proper technique, effective practicing habits, and mind-body awareness. ~Those who are pursuing a career in music are mentored on the business and performance aspect of the art form. ~In-house lessons have the option of a live accompanist, free of charge. Established in Wilmington, NC, the MDR Studio has been in Miami, FL since December of 2013. I was a university music professor for 8.5 years. Lessons are available in the traditional in-person manner, or via Skype. I'm honored to guide motivated and talented people in pursuit of finding their own free-tone by teaching them the basics of healthy singing. Through this process, layered with an understanding of style, my students learn to apply healthy singing techniques to any genre of music while having an understanding of their Voice/Body as Instrument.

I came to Marina just over one year ago after having three years of beginning instruction with a local private teacher. Prior to hearing about Marina’s voice studio, my voice instruction felt stalled out, and part of me considered dropping voice lessons altogether. I seemed unable to resolve a couple of issues, which had also formed into bad habits and that were holding me back from real progress. I reached out to Marina, at the urging of a friend, and she happy accepted me as a student even though I’m a novice. As we live in different states, our lessons are via Skype, which at first seemed slightly implausible, but I am now convinced that this mode is as effective, if not more, than traditional in-person lessons. Another valuable aspect of using Skype is that each lesson can be automatically recorded, and to be able to go back and relive each lesson has been transformative in my study. I have made more progress in my first year with Marina than in the previous three years combined with my first teacher. She tackled my bad habits one by one, and before I knew it I had moved beyond them and progress could be felt and heard. My self-confidence began to increase. Marina creates a safe, friendly, fun, joyful, uplifting, inspiring, and effective learning environment. I look forward to our lessons, am motivated to stay the path, and have hope for continued improvement and satisfaction. I would recommend MDR studio to anyone interested in advancing their vocal skills.

Our daughter has worked with Ms. Ratmiroff for three years. Under her tutelage, we have observed great improvement in vocal quality, projection, and vocal range. Ms. Ratmiroff is professional, courteous, punctual, positive, and enthusiastic.

I had voice lessons with Marina for 4 years and it was the best experience I've ever had. She's affordable, professional, brilliant, and so talented. She was able to teach me the fundamentals of singing in creative new ways. If you want to excel with voice lessons, you need Marina. You will not be disappointed. If she lived near me, I would still take lessons! Do yourself a favor and book Marina.

I've learned so much with Miss D. She's taught me great technique and helped to really hone the talent I have into something so much more. We've also discussed and practiced the differences between Classical, Musical Theatre and Contemporary/Pop. She cares that you are working and growing and will nurture you without patronizing you. Over the years, she's also become more than just a teacher, but a friend and sometimes a big sister/mom-type. She's always interested in helping you not only vocally, but answering questions about singing, the business (which can be daunting) and just life.

Marina is a very caring vocal instructor! I absolutely loved all my lessons with her. Every lesson was filled with encouragement. She helped me to develop the proper vocal technique, and challenged me to go outside my comfort zone so I could discover talents that were hidden within.
