Introduction: I love sharing music with others. Perhaps the most important thing that I wish to impart to my students is a deep love of music. Included in this is a love for the personal process of becoming a musician. As a teacher and professional I have pedagogical training in the Suzuki and Dalcroze Methods. I have been on faculty at the Lucy Moses School, The School for Strings, Opportunity Music Project in New York City, and the Suzuki Music School of Westport, Connecticut. In the past I have played in several professional orchestras, most recently in Japan, and completed my doctorate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Every person, no matter their age, has a unique energy. It is a deep pleasure for me to come to know it, and to help channel it into and through music. Learning to play the cello is a chance to cultivate inner character, discipline, expression, self-confidence, and curiosity, and I love being a part of this journey with every child and adult I meet.

Andrea is an outstanding cello teacher and I am pleased to offer my strongest recommendation. From my experience as a previous adult cello student of Andrea’s, I found her to be a skilled, patient, and creative coach. She would observe, listen, and then offer instruction based on my unique needs and my skill level at the time. Important to me, there was a feeling of both structure at each lesson combined with flexibility to go new or different directions that either I wanted to pursue or that she felt fit what I was studying. Equally important to me was Andrea’s ability to communicate the technique or principle that I was working on. Her clear and valuable information came from many years of professional cello experience combined with her doctoral studies at the University of Wisconsin. Simply put, I always very much looked forward to my lessons with Andrea and was unhappy to have her move away and no longer be my teacher. She provided me the opportunity to find much joy in my cello!

I had Andrea as my private cello lesson teacher when I was in college. She taught me all the basics of cello, as I was a novice in cello. I strongly recommend Andrea for her profession and all the fun we had in the lessons.

Andrea was my son's cello teacher for several years. She was patient and kind, but also set a very high standard for achievement. An integral part of her teaching was inspiring by her example of quiet confidence and excellent musicianship. I would recommend her to anyone with no qualification.
