Introduction: I've been playing music professionally for over 10 years. I've performed everywhere from Radio City to the Great Wall of China and I've recorded at many great studios such as Abbey Road in London, Electric Lady in NYC, and Blackbird in Nashville to name a few. Soloing, Rhythm Guitar, Bass, Singing, Recording and Song Crafting are in my wheel house and I would be delighted to cover any and all of them with my students. I've recently found a passion for teaching. I enjoy setting goals with students and then finding fun and creative ways to meet those goals. The best part of the lesson (and the best way to learn in my opinion) is to keep playing. Learning songs/guitar parts together and analyzing what makes them tick is my favorite part of the lesson.

I am a complete beginner on the guitar, so it was daunting when I decided to start taking lessons. But Kiyoshi has been kind and patient and energizing from the get-go, never rushing me or making me feel overwhelmed, which music teachers have done in the past. I really enjoy the way he intersperses scales and chords with learning songs and solos of my choosing.

I had seen Kiyoshi perform several times in the city and decided to try out a lesson. He’s an extremely patient and knowledgeable teacher who will make you better quickly, and the lessons are very enjoyable. I highly recommend working with him. -Josh

Kiyoshi is an excellent guitar teacher and a fun person to hang with for an hour. He has knowledge in a variety of musical genres, something that was important to me. I've been playing by ear for almost 50 years and wanted to go back and learn theory and technique, on both acoustic and electric. After just 3 months I can now easily transpose to different keys and am beginning to learn how to improvise leads based on a variety of scales. When teaching a song, he emphasizes technique in terms of rhythm, emphasis, tone, muting, bending, and attack. All great: I look forward to the lessons every week.

One of Kiyoshi's many skills as a teacher is taking his almost absurd understanding of music and bringing it to a teachable level without condescension. I don't feel as though I'm being taught so much as sharing space with a fellow musician.
