Introduction: Sydney Rose Cheung began studying musical theatre at age 8, and operatic music at age 10. At 14, Sydney took private voice lessons under Allison Amidon, a USC Professor of music. She has participated in opera concerts with a live orchestra including performing The Flower Duet, one of the most difficult Aria’s to perform on a technical vocal level, at the age of 13. Her many credits include but are not limited to: Maria in West Side Story, Maria in The Sound of Music, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Christine in Phantom of the Opera, Marian in The Music Man, Cinderella in Into the Woods and many more.
Her passion for the performing arts collided with her love for students in 2010 when Sydney began choreographing and giving vocal lessons. She thrives off igniting the musical spark within children to help them build confidence and find their voices. Through music as a vessel, she teaches them discipline and hard work that they will carry with them throughout the rest of their lives. Sydney firmly believes that music can empower young people and equip them with the life skills they need to be successful.
