Introduction: I have extensive experience with the size, fit, and adjusting the violin to best fit the student. Playing the violin shouldn't hurt if it hurts something is wrong. The set up of the instrument is extremely important to both your child's comfort and technique. This is an individual combination of playing on the correct size of violin, chinrest, and shoulder rest all working together for your child. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with bachelors degrees in violin performance and in commercial music. With also holding a degree in commercial music I have experience, and am comfortable, with modern/pop music styles, have composition experience, and can offer my students recording services. While I enjoy teaching girls, I also enjoy and am comfortable with teaching boys and not intimidated by them. I am a mother of two boys and the majority of my past students have been boys. Being a mother myself, two boys and one girl, I have plenty of experience with kids and being a parent and I understand parents' needs and challenges also. I enjoy working with kids of all ages. No two students are the same and I really enjoy getting to know and working with my students on an individual basis. I enjoy helping to instill a love of music and learning in my students and helping them to develop skills that will cross over into other areas of their lives. It's also very satisfying to see them master new techniques and challenges.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a classical violinist from Salt Lake City, UT where I began violin studies at the age of four. My natural musical talent enabled me to study with some of the finest teachers in the valley, as well as having the rare opportunity of being accepted to and attending Interlochen Arts Academy, one of the elite fine arts high schools in the country. I have also received multiple scholarships throughout my high school and university education. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Utah Valley University in 2017 with bachelor degrees in violin performance and commercial music. While at UVU I studied violin performance with Dr. Donna Fairbanks. While there I was also a member of Utah Valley University’s Honors Quartet. We were frequently sought after to provide music for many VIP and exclusive UVU functions. I also studied with Rebecca McFaul (Fry Street Quartet and faculty at Utah State University) for 3 years at Utah State University. Additional teachers of mine also include Leonard Brause, Paul Sommers, Julia Bushkova, Jack Ashton, and Debbie Moench. I have also held many key seats in orchestras including Concertmistress, Assistant Concertmaster, and Principal Second. I have played in many of the best youth orchestras including the World Youth Symphony Orchestra where she had the opportunity to play with world renowned artists such as Andres Watts. In 2015 I was invited to perform in the string section for Christian Howes’s concert at the national ASTA convention.Currently I am the first violinist for the Diamond Strings Wedding Quartet. I have also received Every Child Can and Suzuki teacher training through the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute as well as the Greater Austin Suzuki Institute.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

While at Utah State University I became involved in the string program's Suzuki school where I received instruction and taught both private violin lessons and group class music theory lessons. I have since continued to teaching privately.
