Introduction: I'm a pianist/singer/accompanist, teaching piano and voice and have been coaching singers for 40 years in both NYC and Florida. I am now accepting new students at my Palm Beach Gardens studio, conveniently located near Palm Beach State College on PGA Blvd. My NY students have gone on to having successful careers doing musical theater and cabaret. In NY, I taught musical theater for children and adults at HB Studios and did musical direction and accompanied singers at Singer's Forum. I also taught piano for the Bradley Music Center and beginning keyboard course for the Adult Education Program at Brooklyn College. I'm a very patient, caring teacher and coach with a Bachelor in Music Education and a musical director with over 40 musicals conducted, including Fiddler, the Fantastics, and the Sound of Music, to name a few. For singers, I can teach you how to breathe properly and good vocal technique, and as your vocal coach as well as your voice teacher, I can teach you song interpretation, how to make the song yours, and also help you with vocal arrangements and putting a cabaret act together, if that is something you're interested in doing. I can also teach you how to accompany yourself and show you how easy it is. If you're a senior, I can show you how learning to play the piano or to sing can improve your health and prevent Alzheimer or dementia by keeping your brain healthy and active, learning something new and having fun making music. It could literally add years to your life. I conducted the Friendship Chorale in Sarasota, which is a voice class, as well as a performing choir for seniors for 3 years, conducting senior musical productions, and teaching seniors piano and voice privately for over 5 years here in FL. Whatever age you may be, I can teach you an easy and painless way to learn to read music, that's also lots of fun. If you study with me, you're going to see how easy it is to learn to sing or play music, and how much fun it is to make music.
I'm also available for private parties sing-along and piano bar gigs, performing the best of Broadway and the Great American Songbook, bringing that Broadway pizzazz to any event. My most recent gig was as /pianist/singer/ accompanist for open mic at the Cafe Centro Piano Bar and Italian Ristorante last season in West Palm Beach.from December 2015- May 2016. Previous to that gig, I appeared as pianist/singer for three years at the Arts and Eats Restaurant and Art Gallery in the Village of the Arts in Bradenton, FL. I was also the house pianist/singer at 15 South Ristorante Enoteca and Plano Bar in St. Armands Circle in Sarasota for 2 seasons. Mr. Edelstein also appeared as pianist/ singer/ accompanist on numerous engagements for 3 years at the former Keys Piano Bar of Key West Florida.
Prior to moving to Florida in 2009,
I appeared for 18 years as house pianist/ singer/ accompanist at the world famous Don't Tell Mama Piano Bar on Restaurant Row, in the Theater district, in NYC, as well as playing and singing at Mimi's Italian Restaurant and Piano Bar. on Manhattan 's fashionable East Side.,for 15 years, where he accompanied singers at the open mic. Other NY Italian restaurant gigs include Sofia's, Antonio's, and Giordano's, to name a few. He also appeared for three years in the Cafe de la Paix at the world famous Hotel St. Moritz. Michael plays and sings the best of Broadway, Pop, Oldies but Goodies, (50's and 60's Rock and Roll) Billy Joel, Elton John,Sinatra, Bennett, Gershwin, Cole Porter, etc.and all he classic songs of the Great American Songbook. He also sings classic Italian songs in Italian as well as English, and plays great operatic themes of Pucconi, Verdi, etc, as well as piano classics such as Gershwin's masterpiece, Rhapsody in Blue, his signature piece, Debussy's Clair De Lune, and Chopin's beloved Nocturne in E Flat Major.
I love seeing people being able to do something they didn't know they could do before, like learning to play the piano, or how to sing for their own enjoyment.
