FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, DSW offers 1/2-hour and 1-hour options for lessons for students studying piano and guitar. We offer 1-hour lessons for students studying voice. Our rates for 1/2-hour piano/guitar lessons are $35 and our rate for 1-hour piano/guitar/voice lessons is $60. For families with more than one student, 1-hour piano/guitar lessons may be split into two 1/2-hour lessons for the hourly rate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, we spend the first lesson getting to know the students, determining their skill level, goals in learning/improving their musical skills, motivation level in studying their instrument and any desire to use their instrument in a professional way. We target where each of our students are in the learning process and establish the rapport to continue working on their goals. For students whose goal is personal, our teaching style may be more relaxed and focus on learning the instrument and using it in everyday life for fun and relaxation. For the student whose goal is professional, our teaching style may be more structured, targeting the areas that the student will need improvement in and encouraging the persistence and perseverance a student will need to make that instrument a part of their professional life.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a master level, board-certified music therapist. I have extensive training working with a variety of populations, teaching new skills, and reaching the highest potential of my clients. I’ve found these skills valuable in helping my students learn to love making music with their instruments.
