Kathleen is in the middle of organizing me, my bedroom, office, pantry and many Fibber McGee closets; that she has not run screaming into the night speaks volumes about her skill, her humor and her patience. I cannot praise her enough; she has been able to help me see that so much of what I have, and have been hanging on to, is not necessary to me and would be of use to another so I have been able to let go of many things, something my family cannot believe. So besides her organizing skills, she is subtly persuasive in educating one about what you want to keep: space, order, neatness and the knowledge of where everything is. We are not nearly done but already it is affecting me in many positive ways. I would tell anyone who is in a mess to call her immediately and make the rest of your life a happy thing of order and sense. You will not regret it!

Kathy did a great job on helping me clean out a bedroom coming the next day. She has a great way of sensing just how much direction you need. We were able to get that room ready under 2 hours. I am very grateful. Kathy is currently helping me pack up a house to sell. I will post before and after pictures to this site in the near future.

Kathleen Green from Philly Home Organizer is exceptional because of the energy, determination and knowledge she brings to her work. She helped me with difficult decisions on whether to keep items or not. She has helpful suggestions on where to find place things in the home for optimal use. She carried out recycling items and delivered items to charities. I had a basement storage locker I had not cleared out in years and with her help, items were sorted and moved out and the locker clean and tidy in a few hours. She is a hard worker who is also fun to spend time with. I recommend her without reservation!

Hired on Thumbtack

This has to be one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences, ever, using the Thumbtack app. While we may rate the services, we are also called upon to rate the entirety of the experience. I hired Cathy last weekend and she was here as expected to help me organize and move out old files. I was pleased with the way it went and we made specific arrangements for her to be at my house this weekend. We had already exchanged cell phone numbers and texted/talked regularly about the project. Naturally, when she didn't respond to my text messages or phone calls this morning, I had a bad feeling. I checked the messages all day, only to hear absolutely nothing. At 5:00 I decided to look on the app. I was now left in the lurch and needed to look for someone else. Well, there was a message from Cathy saying that she saw from the app that I had been looking for other organizers. In her mind, that meant I was no longer using her. She jumped to a conclusion without having checked with me in any REAL way, automatically assuming something that she easily could have found out by a quick text or call. She would have known it wasn't me but a friend who I was showing how the "Thumbtack" app worked since it had worked so well for me. In either event, I'm left...on the only days when I'm able to do this (the weekend) with no help! So my rating must consist of a comment that she is unprofessional. A seasoned professional in any business would have had the courtesy to send me a message she KNEW I would receive to let me know she wasn't coming. If I could give her a zero rating, I would have!!
Philly Home Organizer's reply
When a client posts a new ad on Thumbtack for an organizer 3 hours after you leave them, the logical conclusion is that your services are no longer required. I was surprised and disappointed on Sunday night but understand that, while rare in my experience, these things can happen. Showing a friend how to use your Thumbtack account/app and then unknowingly post a request in your name never entered my mind as a reasonable possibility or explanation. By mid-week, I had not heard from Madeline and decided to send her a message as a courtesy stating that I saw the new post, understood that my services were not required and wished her well. I posted it through Thumbtack because all prior messages had been received and responded to promptly. Text messages can sound too terse and a phone call, at that point, did not seem appropriate and would not have been beneficial to either party given the circumstances. While the chain of events is unfortunate, I stand by my decisions in this matter and my professionalism.

Kathy is brilliant! If you feel like you don't have enough space in your home, contact her now. She is quick to respond, reliable, experienced, fun, and effective. What sets Kathy apart is her intelligence and approach. Kathy takes the time to listen. I first contacted her after moving back into my parents’ house which was overrun with clutter and too much stuff. Before charging me a dime, Kathy and I messaged back and forth for several weeks before speaking on the phone multiple times. She seemed smart, easy to talk to, and helpful; so I hired her. Kathy makes the otherwise painful process of decluttering quick and efficient with her non-judgmental and easy-going nature. While sorting through the clutter, we discussed the potential of each room, and Kathy addressed all my questions and concerns. As space opened up, it became clear that there was too much stuff, and I had to make difficult decisions about what to keep or donate. Kathy understood the emotional aspects involved and talked through decisions with me when I struggled. If progress slowed, Kathy applied just the right amount of pressure to keep things moving. When it comes to organizational solutions, Kathy offers suggestions instead of imposing her opinion. Kathy’s solutions revealed her experience. For any need, multiple creative ideas were offered on the spot. The solutions were clever, practical, and easy to maintain. Guided by the philosophy of reaping a simpler, calmer, and happier lifestyle, Kathy is an expert in all regards. Thank you Kathy! I could not have done it without you.
