FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is $85 for a 50-minute Individual Counseling Session and $75 for a 50-minute Mindfulness Coaching Session, and $65 for a 60-minute Therapeutic Movement session. I also offer 30-Minute Therapeutic Movement Sessions for those who desire twice-weekly Yoga instruction.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New clients can call me directly or Cypress Beauty & Wellness to schedule an initial intake for individual counseling (50 minutes, same fee as a regular counseling session). I do a very brief intake for Mindfulness Coaching and Therapeutic Movement Sessions (the first 15 minutes of our first coaching session). There will be a few documents to read and sign, including my Personal Disclosure Statement and Informed Consent. I do the intakes verbally, rather than having you answer questions on a form. I'll ask questions pertaining to your family, medical, spiritual, and psychological history; as well as your reason for seeking counseling. You'll share with me what your goals for therapy are & I'll use these goals to keep us on track throughout future sessions. You can add to or modify your therapeutic goals at any point along the way.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Multnomah University and am a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Alliance. Pertaining to my qualifications in offering Mindfulness Coaching and Therapeutic Movement... I have had my own daily mindfulness practice for the past 2 years. I have had a daily Yoga practice (on and off the mat) for the past 8 years. I have specialized training in the following areas: Dance Movement Therapy (Marylhurst University, Portland, 2013, 2014) Teaching trauma-informed Yoga (Hala Khouri @ Yoga Shala, Portland, 2015) Building mental/emotional resilience through movement, breath, and meditation (Unfold Studios, Portland, 2015). In 2001, I traveled 150 miles of the pilgrimage in Spain called El Camino de Santiago de Compestella. Though I had a travel companion, we had silently agreed to walk independently for a good portion of the journey. Alone with my thoughts, hour after hour; Alone with the discomfort in my limbs and back; facing my Self in silence and reflection for the first time....this was my introduction to Mindfulness meditation, before I even knew what to call it. This journey grew my patience, my self-compassion, and my own emotional/mental resilience. I bring the skills and methods of Mindfulness meditation and of walking alone in a foreign land---to each client I have the honor of working with.
