Introduction: Justin Cooper is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) who specializes in helping clients lose fat, build muscle, and increase functional strength. Before establishing his independent practice, Justin worked as a personal trainer at several corporate gyms and was a performance coach at a private athletic performance facility. Through these experiences, his passion for the industry was further developed by helping a diverse group of clients including doctors, CEO's, athletes, teachers, and lawyers to develop, execute, and surpass their own unique fitness and performance goals. Justin believes that setting specific, well-defined goals is essential in maximizing the effectiveness of his programming. His coaching philosophy consists of a process that sets goals to establish the primary focus of each program. Justin helps clients identify and address any problems that have prevented them in the past from achieving their fitness and performance goals and provides guidance to help overcome possible obstacles and ensure success. Through this guided process, clients change their beliefs and in turn, shape behaviors that are more consistent with accomplishing their objectives. Justin has an extensive educational background, including a M.S. in Exercise Science and a B.S. in Sport and Exercise Science. He also pursues continuing education and holds a number of certifications: Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) - National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) - National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) - National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) - National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Justin also competes in several sports including Wrestling, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Bodybuilding, and Powerlifting. Justin has won several Powerlifting competitions through the USAPL and USPA federations and currently holds multiple Maryland state records. He uses his past personal experiences in sports to further connect with clients in providing the guidance necessary to successfully achieve their own objectives. When not preparing for his next competition, Justin enjoys spending time with his family, traveling with his girlfriend, reading, and watching puppy videos.

Justin is a trainer for all ages, body types and skill levels. I began working with him when I was 59 years old and 4 years later, I’m in the best shape of my life! Proof over the years – Size 10 to a 6 (never in my life) 15% improvement on my doctor’s leg strength fitness test (new baseline) 10 hours of FL yardwork (no pack pain) Bicycling endurance and speed increased During our training sessions, Justin evaluates and makes the appropriate adjustments to address my personal goals of balance, flexibility, core and overall strength, all important as one ages. Unlike other trainers I have used in the past, Justin is especially attentive during workouts, first demonstrating and then reinforcing proper techniques and body positioning. Incorporating his advice into my daily life has improved my posture, bending and lifting ability, and overall everyday activities. With his knowledge of the human body, muscles and mechanics, Justin is able to adjust and accommodate an exercise to address my fitness needs at that moment. There is an on-going, two way communications both in and out of the gym. I would HIGHLY recommend, Justin to anyone wanting to improve their physical abilities. I wish I had space to express all that he has done. I truly believe he has added years to my life both physically and emotionally. Thank you, Justin

To only say Justin is great and knowledgeable and leaving a 5 star review is, based on my experience, not even close to the truth. Justin is one of the greatest minds I’ve met but that is not where he shines; when you work with Justin you have someone who will give you all his mind, heart, and soul. Even though is an elite powerlifter and bodybuilder (trust me, I am saying this as both a powerlifter and bodybuilder for almost a decade), he would much rather see progress in your journey than his own. You will have a very hard time finding this. I have been coached by elite powerlifting coaches, and they do not invest the same as Justin does. He invests himself emotionally not just in your fitness goals but also your development as a human being. He will be there for you inside and outside of the gym, through your highs and lows. Of course, as with any meaningful relationship, my time with Justin has not been complete agreement on all fronts. We have butted heads, had disagreements, and communicated constructive criticisms of one another. However, because he is a genuine human being, and if you give him your trust, you can see that these disagreements are to ultimately serve you. To be honest, I have only been comfortable being completely transparent with my feelings— not just positive but also negative— with a select few people in my life, and Justin is one of them. Although these are my own experiences, I will say Justin can be whatever you make of him; he will reciprocate anything you’re willing to offer. If you want a trainer to hit your fitness goals, you’ve come to the right place. If you want someone to give your all to, someone to help you grow physically and mentally, to develop as a whole person, you’ve also come to the right place.

Justin does a great job. The program is very well designed, his primary focus is on form not weight (but that comes with good form). This made a massive difference to me. He has a very comprehensive spreadsheet for tracking results and also for your warm-up routine. Every movement is explained in detail, not just how but also the why. There is also a lot of focus on diet as well, what to eat, when and why. BMI is tracked regularly as are gains (in my case) or losses. Very comfortable recommending T.J.C Performance
