FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are $33 for 30 minutes, $50 for 45 mins, and $66 for 60 mins.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It depends on the age and ability of the student: Children-For beginners I use the Faber piano adventures method series, working through each book with the goal of having a new piece every week if possible. As a supplement I also use other books of repertoire to expand on the concepts taught and introduce variety into the lesson. The supplemental repertoire is generally tailored to the child’s interests, though I do often try to include classical music when possible. I also use educational apps and games as well. For transfers I may continue with whatever books and repertoire they are using, thought I may make changes if I deem it necessary. Teenagers-generally teenagers already have some experience playing the piano and may already be playing intermediate or advanced repertoire. If that is the case I often assign them scales and technical work while giving them repertoire from a wide range of styles and periods. For beginners we work through the Faber Piano Adventures for advanced beginners, with the goal of getting them to the level they need to be to play the music they like as quickly as possible. Adults- Adults are often returning to the instrument after having learned it as children. I work with them to refresh and build upon what they already know. With adults, I try to act more as a mentor than a teacher, encouraging and critiquing them instead of assigning tasks and setting expectations. For all students I expect them to practice regularly and meet their goals for each lesson. Practice time and frequency varies with age and ability
