FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I like to offer a fee that a client feels comfortable with, as well as one that reflects my expertise. I am always open to giving discounts and to negotiation. I generally do not quote a fee until the client and I speak and I have a good feel for what they need and expect. I always explain the rationale for a particular fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We have a phone or (Skype) conversation and I determine their needs and expectations. I explain my fee structures and give them time to ask any questions they wish regarding my training, qualifications, or experience. I also ask them for all information that I think is relevant (and which they feel is appropriate to answer) to our work together. I give us both time to digest our conversation to see if each of us feels like a good fit for the other. I always suggest that, if we decide to work together, we both do so, keeping in mind that it is on a trial basis. Perhaps a minimum number of sessions, etc. And then we can reassess to see if we wish to continue.
