FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My lesson rates are $70 for forty-five minutes weekly, or $75 for alternating weeks. Longer and shorter times may be available on further inquiry.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initial lessons are about identifying what the student does well and building on it while developing new skills and deepening understanding of the voice as an instrument. I like to start by hearing a song someone knows already, (even 'Twinkle, Twinkle,Little Star,') before introducing new concepts and exercises. I encourage students to record their lessons to help guide their practice and to monitor their own progress from week to week.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a Bachelor's, Master's, and Postgraduate Diploma in Voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, attended Northwestern Univeristy, and was a co-salutatorian at Interlochen Arts Academy. I also have trained at San Francisco's Bay Area Summer Opera Theater Institute, LA's OperaWorks, the Redwoods Opera Workshop in Mendocino, Early Music Vancouver's Compleat Singer Programme, and the Aspen Opera Theater Center at the Aspen Music Festival and School. In addition to my formal training, I am constantly pursuing knowledge of music and singing, whether from watching singers live and on tv, talking to colleagues, attending master classes, or my own continuing vocal study.
