Introduction: I have a BA from Juilliard and have enjoyed teaching, playing in the New Jersey Symphony as well as Principal cello in a Swiss Orchestra. I get my students to perform twice a year at a concert Hall and help them improve their technique and ability to express emotions which the cello with it's range of sound and tone can do so well. I teach cello technique that I learnt from Leonard Rose, Harvey Shapiro, Eric Wilson and James Kreger. Without the rudiments being properly taught it makes it very difficult if not impossible to play well. I guide students rather than teach. I also teach each student differently as people come in all sizes and have different personalities. I teach music theory and ear training as needed and I also teach over the internet using Skype or face time.

I started as a complete adult beginner with no more than a week of the steel drums in elementary school. Don has helped me on the way to become a real cellist. He has seen it all and can help with any type of problem. He focuses on the fundamentals and quality so practice is transferable between music. A true professional and a fantastic teacher for aspiring and advanced cellists.

I charge 60 per hour for lessons in my home or $60 per hour for online lessons
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Teaching the rudiments that Leonard Rose taught which I recommend to all my students to learn. There is a video on u-tube called a lesson with Leonard Rose which is old but has the best available bow arm rudiments in this video.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA from Juilliard whee I studied with Leonard Rose and Harvey Shapiro. The I spent 3 years in the New Jersey Symphony as a cellist. I then moved to Switzerland were I was principal cellist in a Swiss Orchestra for 3 years. I have also studied with Eric Wilson and James Kreger. You can look these cellists up on U-tube.
