Introduction: My name is Evan, and I teach electric bass guitar lessons to beginner/intermediate bass players in the area.
I studied jazz at Tufts University in Boston, where I studied with Berklee School of Music professors Fernando Huergo and Nando Michelin. I have performance experience in the styles of Rock, Funk, Blues, Old-time, Jazz & Afro-Cuban music. I have been gigging for the last 9 years and teaching bass for the last 4 years.
I enjoy providing a positive environment that fosters musical growth for students at all levels. My teaching method is comprehensive, starting with the basics of rhythm and timing, as well as proper technique to avoid injuries. From there, I give students a series of warm-ups and training exercises to do on their own. Learning any instrument can be boring/painful if it is not satisfying and fun, so I find it is best to focus on whatever styles of music the student enjoys listening to. I can also teach students to read/write music if s/he desires.
