I've been taking voice lessons with Christine for a few months now, and it's been an amazing experience. I'm a total and absolute beginner, but Christine knows perfectly well how to teach beginners (or people at any level for that matter, since she has a degree in music education). In a few months we've already seen noticeable improvement in my voice. Christine's been helping me develop the correct vocal technique right from the beginning, so that I don't develop bad habits that are difficult to correct later. She is also an outstanding teacher - she immediately notices/hears my mistakes, no matter how subtle, and corrects me right away. Or if she notices me getting tired, she stops the lesson right away, even if I don't notice it myself. These are very important things for a beginner in my opinion. She also shows me many tricks (both physical and psychological) that I can use to make my voice do the right thing. And she has a variety of exercises that help with different aspects of developing your voice. Finally, she's a great person to work with - very cool-minded, always smiling/laughing/joking, never yells or gets angry, calmly moves on to something else if one thing doesn't work, and has the rare and wonderful ability to point out mistakes without making you feel bad. She is also a very good listener - always willing to answer my questions/comments. At a personal level, she's a fun and interesting person to get to know, and talk to. I think everybody can benefit from voice lessons, even if you think you're no good at singing. And I think Christine is perfect for the job. I highly recommend her!

Christine is a terrific German diction coach. She is a native German speaker and also a great singer which means she can help singers more than just give them the correct pronunciation. She is also very knowledgeable in German literature. When I had coaching sections with her, she always discussed how the poem were set and what kind of perspective a singer should have. Her help to me is way beyond a German coach can give.

I went to Christine to get help on how I could sing better. After careful observation, Christine was able diagnose a few things I could work on to improve my breath support. She gave me clear and imaginative descriptions to help me understand how to improve. Christine is a very experienced teacher and I felt she approached me as a unique individual, rather than just recommending cookie-cutter exercises for breath support. It has been wonderful to work with her. Thanks Christine!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
In my lessons I share with you the knowledge that I have acquired in many years of performing and studying with master teachers from many countries. You are welcome to pay in cash, by check or PayPal (online students). For ongoing lessons, I charge $40 for 30 minutes and $70 for 60 minutes (plus PayPal fees for online lessons). Introductory lesson special I offer a 30 minute introductory lesson for every new student for only $30. This lesson is to get to know each other, learn about your goals and see if we would like to work together. New student special I also offer a three lesson special for new students who decide they want to work with me. Three 60 minute singing lessons: $180 (You save $30.) Three 45 minute singing lessons: $150 (You save $30.) Three 30 minute singing lessons: $90 (You save $30.) Lessons cover all aspects of musical education, including voice training, ear training, posture, diction, singing in different languages, dramatic interpretation, performance training, and vocal health. Tuition includes teacher's time for preparation of the lesson, keeping a student file to document lesson content and development, deciding student’s music repertoire, parent/student communication and feedback. Lessons are conducted in English or German.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When we meet for the first lesson, I would love to learn about your motivation to sing and what you want to achieve. If you like, I will give you some more information about myself. We will warm up with vocal exercises that I will demonstrate for you. If you have favorite exercises that work well for you, please let me know. During the exercises I will get to know your voice and if needed give you suggestions of how to improve. I am a very patient person. My goal is to give you an idea of how our work will be and you can ask questions. We might also sing a song that you already know and talk about what you want to sing in the future.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I do have a double Master's degree in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from the Dresden University of Music “Carl Maria von Weber“ in Germany. I also do have a Master's degree in Music Education, German Education, and Educational Sciences. I have worked as a singing teacher and singer for over 15 years. I have taught masterclasses for singers in the US, Germany and China. I enjoy teaching in my private voice studio and online. I founded the German Vocal Arts Institute (GVAI) to help singers that want to excel in the German vocal repertoire and help them to apply for agencies and opera companies in Germany.
