FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The most important thing to understand before you even hit the record button is why you're making the project. Most people get so caught up in the gear, the arrangement, and the aesthetic, that they overlook the most important piece; the idea. Behind every great recording is a great song and behind every great song is an authentic idea that means something to the artist. As an artist myself, understanding my client's vision is the single most important piece of my job.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently have been wrapping up my record with Drew Williams. Drew and I have been great friends for years and have been working on helping him build himself up. The week we finished the record he left to play Lollapalooza and I couldn't be more proud. The project took about 3 to 4 months to full complete. I adore working with up and coming artists and helping them realize their potential. It's extremely rewarding.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Remember that great recordings can be made anywhere in almost any condition. Make sure that who you are working with is passionate about what they're doing and fit your needs. In this business it takes a deeper understanding of your music and even getting a little tough love at times to make you reach your potential.
