- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As a teacher, I specialize in training classical technique. I teach disney songs, musical theater and classical repertoire almost exclusively. My goal is to give my students the tools to be self-assured and fully competent musicians. This includes vocal technique, performance skills and reading music. Ideal students are excited about music and singing, have a good musical ear, and are willing to practice at least a few times a week between lessons. I also recommend that students be interested in singing music other than pop music, and be able to match pitch. Teacher-student match is an important part of voice lessons, so I always recommend scheduling one lesson to meet and get to know each other. If we decide that we'd like to work together, we can schedule a regular lesson time and go from there. For the first lesson, I recommend that you bring sheet music for a piece that is comfortable to sing. The student doesn't need to be able to read music, but I do need it to be able to play the vocal part and maybe even accompany on the piano.
