Piano with Jane

Introduction: I love teaching - particularly adult students, (though I accept all ages above 6) - because I enjoy watching their surprise as they achieve so much more than they thought they could. I have an MA in music education from Columbia University's teachers' college and have taught on the faculties of local music schools as well as at Bergen Community College. My professional background includes many different areas of music, including composition for film, theater musician, choral singer, accompanist and conductor, as well as study and performance as a classical pianist. All of this allows me to be responsive to a student's own goals and needs, whether an adult student wanting to explore further the music he or she has always loved, or a child starting lessons for the very first time, or someone who wants to learn the theory that underpins music composition. I give a trial lesson at no charge to make sure teacher and student are a good fit.
