Introduction: I try to teach with a thorough, but encouraging and upbeat style. I expect my students to get the work done, but I realize that occasionally, life gets in the way of that. Habitually would not be good, though. Getting to share my love of music with others and hopefully instill that, as well as a high degree of understanding of music in them.

Kathy Wilcox has been my piano teacher for several years. Although I am not currently taking lessons due to not having enough time I would highly recommend Kathy to anyone who wishes to learn the art of the piano. Kathy is extremely knowledgeable and can connect with students of all age groups. She is really good at explaining not only what needs to be done, but also the reasons behind why you need to do it. Kathy Wilcox is unequivocally one of the best music teachers in the metroplex.

Kathy is a highly qualified and well experienced voice instructor who has exceptional understanding of breath control, posture, pitch control, resonance and word clarity. She establishes clear expectations, offers meaningful homework, optimizes lesson time, and provides opportunities for public performances. She is flexible with schedule changes/modifications with advance notice and always is well prepared for a lesson. Her mentorship greatly increased our daughter's vocal abilities, and these gains have led several successful auditions resulting in vocalist opportunities in performances and choral groups.

Kathy taught voice to my youngest daughter and piano to my oldest daughter. Her lessons were fun yet challenging. The girls have "graduated" but still consider Kathy to be their second mom! As the parent I appreciated Kathy being up front about her style of teaching methods and what she expected from my daughters as students. We give her a 5 star rating!

I am a 50 year old adult who wanted to take singing lessons to step outside my comfort zone. I've never sung in front of anyone and I know nothing about singing. Kathy has been great. I feel comfortable with her and she has been patient in teaching me the very basic things I need to get started. Recommended

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard pricing is $80 per month for 30 minute lessons once a week, $115 for 45 minutes. Payment is due the first lesson of the month.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For piano students, if they are experienced, I ask them to come in prepared to play something for me so that I can assess their skills and we can develop a plan for going forward to help achieve their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor degree in music as well as a year of study in vocal pedagogy. My college piano professor was excellent; he had studied at Oberlin, Juilliard, and Michigan, and I wanted to absorb as much as I could learn from him, so took from him past passing my piano proficiency for my degree.
