My 9yo daughter has had the good fortune of having Joe as her instructor for almost two years. Her focus is piano and voice, but Joe has also worked with her on drums and guitar. I cannot say enough about Joe as a private music instructor. He is patient, kind, versatile in his music expertise and a creative teacher. At 9, scales and basic songs are not always exciting, and at the same time learning proper fingering and how to read music are challenging tasks. I am constantly in awe of how Joe is able to get my daughter engaged and excited while working at both ends of the challenge spectrum. My daughter loves him and looks forward to her lessons. We feel so lucky to have Joe as our music teacher and would recommend him for any level of student!

Joe has been teaching my two young boys for a over a year and I cannot say enough about how blessed we are to have found him. Joe is skilled in many instruments, which allows my boys to benefit from learning the foundation instrument, the piano, but also branching out into drums, voice, and guitar all from the same instructor. In addition to being a skilled musician, Joe is also skilled in the art of teaching, which sets him apart from others we have tried. Joe incorporates music theory into the lessons so my boys can begin to understand important musical concepts in addition to continuing to learn to read more complex sheet music. As far as teaching, Joe is blessed with the ability to balance being firm with being nurturing, which can be challenging even in parenting. Joe is excellent in keeping my boys engaged and interested in their lessons by balancing learning/practicing material that is standard in learning, with material that they choose to learn such as current popular songs. Joe has a warm and friendly personality, which makes him very easy to work with. Joe teaches students of all ages including adults, which is helpful if parents want to take lessons as well. So, while you are scrolling down the long list of music teachers trying to pick a name "out of a hat", do yourself a favor and put an end to the tedious search, "call off the dogs" and contact Joe Grez. You will happy with your choice.

Learning guitar is certainly a long term endeavor, but Joe really makes it interesting and rewarding. He completely organizes the lessons to the individual students wants and is always encouraging and patient.
