FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lesson length is determined by the developing needs of students. The optimal length for most beginners is 45 minutes except those under 7 generally work best with 30 minute sessions. Payment is paid monthly in advance. Cancelled lessons are forfeited lessons unless I cancel in which case a makeup lesson or lesson cost credit is applied to the account.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin with email or phone conversations to see if our schedules can line up. Next we set a first lesson appointment. During that appointment I do a quick analysis of aptitude, interest and attitude. We discuss studio policies, practice expectations and set our first goals. I then select appropriate materials for the new student and we get going on learning to play the piano.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Read, read, read, and read some more. Network both online and in person with other professionals. Try new things myself and with my students. Of course I have and undergraduate degree in piano and I have a graduate degree in choral conducting. I also hold multiple certifications in Orff Schulwerk, kodaly, Kindermusik, and am professionally linked in several major music organizations.
