Introduction: I am a piano teacher on the Upper West Side with more than 20 years of experience. I received my bachelor's degree in music from the University of Denver, MM from Manhattan School of Music, and MMusicEd from Lehman College.
I will help my students learn to read music; play engaging, fun repertoire; and perform in my performance classes, recitals and beyond. All ages and levels are welcome. References are available.

Rubi's attention and devotion to her students are exceptional. Obviously her years of experience shine through, for she was able to get my son, the most restless of 6-year-olds, to calmly pay attention to small details, and to listen to her raptly. He is now reading music, playing (including percussion!), and eager to continue lessons with Ms. Rubi. A beautiful player and performer herself, I enjoy listening to her as well. She is a delightful role model and teacher for us both!

Rubi has been teaching my daughter piano for over six years. We have been delighted with the results. Rubi figured out what motivates my daughter so we never have to fight about at-home practice. My husband and I like Rubi's focus on performance and collaboration. Every child is assigned a duet piece at the end of every year, which builds the ability to play with others as well as each child's technical skills. I highly recommend Rubi.

Rubi was a fantastic teacher for my son. She was rigorous and had high expectations but was also warm and encouraging. We only stopped the lessons because my son wanted to get some exposure to other instruments. I cannot rave enough about Rubi!
