Introduction: More than fifty years ago, Japanese violinist Shinichi Suzuki realized that children the world over learn to speak their native language with ease. He began to apply the basic principles of language acquisition to the learning of music, and called his method the "mother-tongue" approach.
The ideas of parent responsibility, loving encouragement, continued repetition, etc., are some of the special features of the
Suzuki method.
The Studio Violin's approach is based on the Suzuki method and is committed to the "Nurtured by Love" philosophy.
Every child can learn, and every parent can help!
Chloe began studying violin at the age of three in Seattle, Washington under the tutelage of Kathleen Boyer- second violinist with The Seattle Symphony. Chloe started in the Suzuki method and attended the advanced Japan-Seattle Suzuki Institute for several years. Along with her Suzuki studies, Chloe took part in the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra program.
Chloe quickly progressed through the Suzuki books and moved to across the country to begin studies at The Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. At Longy, she studied Music Theory, Music Composition and Music History, as well as playing in masterclasses and performances weekly. She was also a member of two chamber music groups each year and The Longy Youth Chamber Orchestra as the youngest ever admitted member.
She became the concert master after only a short time with the orchestra and traveled to Canada, Germany and the Czech Republic on tour, performing city to city. She has also journeyed to Colima, Mexico playing chamber music with students of the Universidad de Colima.
Chloe continued on with Longy to receive her Certificate of Violin Performance and has competed in many competitions, preforming some of the world's most iconic violin repertoire. She has a deep love for J.S. Bach's solo violin works and has studied them with period baroque bows and technique.
While at Longy, Chloe studied in the studios of Clayton Hoener- principle second violinist of The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra as well as main study with Janet Packer- Longy School of Music String Department Chair.
After moving back to Seattle, Chloe was a violinst with The Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Adam Stern.
Chloe's love for teaching and spreading music to others, is strongly influenced by her early years attending Suzuki and chamber music camps and making music along side family and friends.
Chloe currently plays and preforms with a Douglas Cox violin.
