Josh was very quick to reply to my job and met me the next day to review the work (Friday). They started on Monday with power washing and painting 3 rooms. He team was easy to work with and didn't get flustered when I asked for a few touch ups. I felt that his pricing was fair and there weren't any hidden fees. I'll be gathering up more projects down the road for Tru Builders.

We had a painter no show to paint our den and dining room. Jason saved us! He was able to come out quickly to look at the space, gave us a very reasonable quote, and was able to get started almost right away. The room looks great! He painted the walls/trim/ceiling/doors. Within one week of our original painter not showing up Jason was able to evaluate the room and complete the job and it really looks amazing! Thanks Jason.

Randy and his team did a great job painting most of the rooms in my house and staining my back yard fence. Prep work was great and was a little extensive, which I did not expect, but the final product was great. I would rather have that extensive prep work than hire someone who does not do it... Thanks to Randy and his team! House looks brand new.

Gabriel gave us a great price for painting the interior of our home, including the stairs. His nephew Julio was able to start working the next day, and they finished within 3. Julio did a very good job for us. Our only complaint is that Julio wasn't as neat as he could've been, leaving spackle dust and paint/brushes around at the end of the day. Gabriel also helped us install our dining room chandelier and hang our flat screen tv over the fireplace. They were very helpful! We would absolutely hire them again.

I located Mr. Latta on this site in Oct 2016 for my family member who had moved to the area (AL )and needed a bed assembled (in box amazon). Mr Latta assembled quickly, he was also courteous and professional. That same family member has used Mr. Latta to assemble her dining room suite, end & coffee table. He's assembling (right now) an armoire, five dresser drawer and night stand all in box merchandise. He's flexible and will work with your work schedule. I would recommend Mr. Latta for all assembly work. There has not been any issues with his work and his prices are affordable. You wont regret hiring Mr. Latta. THANK YOU! Jobs well done!

Mr Moore did interior home painting for me. He was a Professional with a capital "P". He quoted me a reasonable price and did all that he agreed to do within budget and in the time frame that he said he would. He did all the needed prep work and the paint job was great. All the paint lines were straight and he cleaned up afterwards with no mess behind. I would refer to others.

Jason has not only painted rooms in my house but he painted a 10, 000 sq ft building that I built in Gardendale. The building is extremely modern with open ceilings and exposed duct work. He and painted all of the ceilings as well as the entire inside which had intricate architectural layout. The end result was absolutely beautiful. He pays specific attention to detail and color perfection. I consider Jason to be more than just a painter....he is an artist! He is extremely intelligent and very meticulous. He has great insight to design and pleasing his clients. If you are looking for a hard worker with a lot of experience, I would highly recommend you trust Jason!

Ed Dickison painted both the interior rooms (living room, foyer, kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms) of my house as well as the trim on the exterior of my house. He was recommended to me by a friend who had also had her house painted by him. He was very professional from start to finish. He gave me a quote and stood behind the price he quoted to me at the beginning. He arrived on time every morning before I left for work, and he made sure everything was neat and put away before I got home that night. He also finished the project on time, and he did an excellent job. There is no question that I would hire him again, and I would highly recommend him to anyone else who is in the market for painting services.

Jesse from Crowe Painting sanded our garage door and eaves on our house and repainted them. This helped to bring areas of our house back to life over what had been years of painting over dirt and mildew by the previous owners. He sanded the wood completely, caulked where needed and did a great job painting when that was all finished. No shortcuts here and great attention to detail. We will for sure use Crowe painting again and you should too! Great folks, great prices and someone you can trust to do what they say they will do. That's rare to find these days...great job Crowe Painting!

They were great! Jeremy and his men were very professional, on time and reliable. I first hired them to paint 3 rooms in my house. They were so reasonable and did such a great job, I called them back to resurface my front porch. Again- they did a great job. Will recommend they to every one.

My experience with Shelby painting has been absolutely gratifying. In the beginning, I was somewhat skeptical of selecting a painter from an online website; however, after my initial meeting with Mr. and Mrs. Estes, I knew that I had made the right choice. The owners completed a thorough walkthrough of my home (1,877 square feet) and determined which areas were immaculate as well as the areas that needed direct attention. Afterwards, the Estes gave us an instant quote that was fair and extremely competitive to other professional painters within the Shelby and Jefferson county area. Once a contract was established, the painter(s) from Shelby Painters promptly arrived at our home and worked diligently until the end of the workday. We had a hard deadline of 3 days to complete this huge painting project and Mr. Estes and his painters completed the job early. All five of the rooms that were painted look flawless and I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the work. In fact, I have received compliments from my friends and family that my newly painted rooms are worthy of being highlighted in any issue of a major home and garden magazine. Shelby Painters staff was patient, friendly, and professional. I would most definitely use them or recommend them for future painting jobs.

They painted all the ceilings, trim and walls (minus two rooms to be wallpapered) in my house and did a great job. They even repainted my master bath a second color after I didn't like how the first one looked. I would definitely recommend Chris.

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

          How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

          • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
          • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
          • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
          • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
          • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
          • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
