Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have been tutoring for the ACT, as well as in math, science, and history for 10+ years. I incorporate study skills and give students practice materials to relieve their burden of finding practice questions. I am currently a PhD student in Behavioral Neuroscience at UAB, so I also understand the demands and anxieties of being a current student.

Distinguished Scholars ACT Tutoring's reply
I’m so sorry to hear that you weren’t happy with your tutoring sessions. I know my unforeseen sickness and surgery did not allow us to meet for the two sessions before your test, and I sincerely apologize for this. Thankfully, I am well again and this anamolous situation will unlikely be an issue in the future. I hope your ACT test went well!

Unfortunately, I am not sure who this is since I did not get hired by this person, or why they left this review.

Ayushe helped me maximize my ACT score, so that I could be considered for scholarships. Every week she pinpointed where I was not doing well in the ACT, and we worked on that aspect. I was really bad at the science comparison passages, but Ayushe gave me a warm up every week that specifically dealt with differing scientist comparison passages. By the end of only four weeks I was able to do an entire science comparison passage in 5 minutes and get all eight questions regarding the passage correct. I was also not good at the reading test given on the ACT because I did not have a good strategy for reading the passages in 35 minutes. By the end of four weeks I was able to develop a strategy that worked for me, which helped me score higher than I have ever scored in the reading section. When I did not understand how to work a problem, Ayushe explained the problem step by step, so I was able to know how to answer that type of question on the test. Since the ACT frequently recycles the same style of question, it is valuable to have the questions explained because student will not miss those problems in the future. When explaining the problems Ayushe does it in a way that a student will remember and understand. In the same regard, she does not treat each student the same; she allows them tries many strategies to see which strategy best fits them. I have worked with tutors who want the student to use only a limited amount of test strategies. Ayushe knows many test strategies, so she is able to cater to the person. She worked very hard with me, and she was very flexible with when we could meet. If I was running late she would accommodate me with a smile. When working with Ayushe, she is determined for her students to improve their score. She motivated me to work hard to improve my score. Overall, she was the best tutor I have had with the ACT, and I have worked with many people to improve my score. She truly cares about her students’ success. My score went up the most when I was working with her because she knows what she is talking about. In addition to being extremely intelligent she knows how to work the test to help her student do better.

Ayushe Sharma tutored my daughter in high school chemistry. Miss Sharma was extremely dedicated, knowledgeable, friendly and kind. She was flexible as far as meeting places and times and her rates were very reasonable. My daughter said Miss Sharma was not "boring" and was better at explaining the subject than her actual chemistry teacher. She would stay later than agreed upon if ever needed. She made up practice tests for my daughter and was available via e-mail if any questions arose. She found YouTube videos that aided in memorization. She even helped research good ACT prep books for my daughter. Because of these things and more, I feel that Miss Sharma went above and beyond what was expected of her. We asked for a tutor and got a great role model, too! In the end, my daughter made a wonderful grade on her chemistry final and made a wonderful friend in Miss Ayushe Sharma.

Ayushe S. tutored my son Cory for the ACT and for biology, chemistry, and pre-calculus. He suffers from Asperger's Syndrome and has a great deal of trouble with social interaction. We had such trouble finding an appropriate tutor fit with him, but then we thankfully found Ayushe. She was patient, warm, and incredibly kind. Moreover, she was able to completely circumvent the symptoms of his syndrome and truly treat him as a person--this was unique to me, because everyone else just gets hung on on how he is different and often end up treating him very strange as a result. Ayushe did wonders with Cory because she was able to pinpoint and emphasize his learning style, manipulating common subject material into a form that was more digestable to him. He did great on all his tests and assignments for the high school science and math, and even raised his ACT score by 8 points! The best part of the ACT tutoring was that I didn't have to buy anything at all: Ayushe had practice tests, formula sheets, and basically everything Cory could have needed to raise his score. We actually tried All Pencils Down before we met her and he didn't really see much of a change. I think that is because most test prep companies tend to focus on teaching "test-taking strategies" that may or may not work for everyone in the class. Also, Cory has trouble speaking up when he is confused so even a small class of 15 people is too much for him when it comes to raising his hand and speaking up. So, tutoring was definitely the way to go. We tried a few different tutors before we found Ayushe. The other tutors were more like a resource for questions, which was a difficult approach for us since we weren't familiar with the test and didn't know exactly what questions to ask. These tutors were best for people who have test prep books, practice tests, etc., and just need explanations for math or science questions that are confusing to them. Ayushe worked better for us because she provided us with everything Cory needed and actually made a personalized timeline tailored to Cory's weaknesses and strengths on the ACT. So, the $40/hour for ACT tutoring was well worth it in the end--especially after all the dead-ends we met with! All in all, I'm very glad that Ayushe was recommended to us. Even though Cory will be finished with high school soon, I am confident Ayushe will keep up with him and maybe even help him when he gets to college if he decides to go with UAB! I am very happy with everything she has helped Cory with and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor!
