In my experience, Nic is an incredibly supportive teacher. He brings his expertise to the lesson but also to YOUR goals for learning the piano for the first time or coming back to the piano. His passion and knowledge are contagious and make you excited about all there is to learn and explore through the piano.

Nic is by far the best piano teacher I've ever had. I have been playing the piano for a number of years and even pursued a piano performance minor while at university. After taking a long break from playing the piano, I decided to take lessons again from Nic, which has proven to be one of the best investments I have made in myself. Even as a relatively advanced player, I have still found myself improving at a rapid pace and learning an immense amount from Nic. My technique has vastly improved and my playing has developed a depth of nuance that I did not think it could possess.
Nic's understanding of theory, composers and their pieces, and playing mechanics, as well as his experience as a professional pianist and accompanist, allow him to impart a wealth of knowledge to his students. I've even arranged for him to give lessons to my younger sister to augment her normal piano lessons, and her piano teacher has commented on her marked improvement after only a couple lessons with Nic. He has a way with encouraging his students and his belief in their abilities pushes them to play ever better.
I would highly recommend Nic as an instructor to piano players of all levels, though I do think intermediate and advanced players will benefit the most. Lessons with Nic are a worthwhile investment of time, money, and effort, and I'm fortunate to have found him as a teacher.

Nicholas has taught my son piano lessons for a few months. My son started lessons when he was 4 and Nicholas has expertly adjusted the curriculum to his age and capacity. The lessons are tailored exactly to where my son is and he's retained everything Nicholas has taught him over many weeks. The progression is incredible. I can't recommend him enough.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing reflects my experience and expertise as a pianist and piano teacher and musician. Pricing also reflects the student's dedication to preparing for each lesson they schedule with me.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Prospective students should schedule a 30-minute trial lesson before committing to monthly lessons. This trial lesson is designed to assess the student's current skill level, understand their learning style, and establish a rapport with the student. It also gives the student a feel for my teaching style and personality. Monthly tuition will be pro-rated for the remaining weeks following a student's enrollment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied music for 35 years. I received rigorous training in piano pedagogy, performance, music theory and aural skills, sight-reading, and collaborative piano at Utah State University and Weber State University. Additionally, I've had over 25 years experience as a professional musician, performing music all over the US.
