We hired All Aspects Painting and Home Repair to paint or exterior porches and ceilings. Jason and his crew were polite and timely. Jason communicated often about progress on the job. He was easy to contact with questions and responded quickly. At the end of each day, Jason and his crew cleaned up all of their supplies- you couldn't even tell they had been there! The paint job was fantastic and looks amazing. I highly recommend this company.

Gabriel and his crew painted our whole house (interior), finished in an interior room (drywall, electrical, door installation), did some plumbing additions, and installed carpet in addition to other jobs that came up during the process. We are very pleased with his work and attention to detail. Gabriel is a pleasure to work with and is responsive to concerns/ changes that come up in remodeling. Thank you to you and your great team!!!

The gentlemen who came to remove junk from my garage and do some home repairs were fantastic. They were very nice and helpful. Also, they were able to fix my bed that was missing a part. They were able to fabricate the missing piece, by using a simple piece of wood. It was fascinating to watch. If you want A+ service, I suggest you call KC services.

I had three separate projects posted on Thumbtack. Mike and his wife completed all three projects (landscaping, pressure washing and cleaning), plus a project I hadn't yet posted (installing doors). They did an absolutely amazing job for a very reasonable price and had it all completed in 5 days! They were also super nice and so easy to work with. I will definitely call them the next time I need work done!

He is very professional. Went to my rental house and provided a written estimate. He quotes a maximum time for labor, (ie not to exceed 3 hours) and then charged me for how many hours he actually spent (less than the original quote). So, if it takes him less time than the quoted number of hours, he charges you less, but if it takes more time than he thought to do the project, you don't pay more than the quoted price for labor. He communicated with me via texts for materials, which was very efficient. He did a deck repair and was very reasonably priced. I have hired him to put together a prefab garden shed for me based on his performance and professionalism and price. This will occur in a few weeks. He is very helpful with explaining what we need to do a project, and very accommodating about getting the supplies if I don't provide them myself. I recommend him very highly.

Chris was a lifesaver. I recently bought a foreclosed property that sprung several leaks once water service was restored. He was able to repair the leaks quickly despite some of the faucets being quite old. He was also able to install a replacement light fixture and all at a reasonable price. Sincerely Kristy Marks

I had Foresight Homes come out to look at repairing some rotten wood on my home. Primarily this was the fascia boards behind the gutter system that was installed incorrectly by the original builder. Foresight was very professional and completed the job in a timely manner. I would definitely use them again and recommend to everyone I know.

I was very pleased with the service Mr. Allen provided. He was on time, professional, and very polite. When I requested help, I wasn't sure what I was dealing with or how costly it could get. He diagnosised and repaired a problem I've had "fixed" several times in the past. Actually, he saved me money in future repairs and the total repair was a little under quoted price. Thank you for your integrity and pride. Satisfied customer in Cleveland, AL.

I went on Thumbtack two evenings ago to find someone to demo and repair our exterior porch awning. It had been improperly installed by previous owner and had sustained water damage. C & L was the first to get back with me. They promptly scheduled a free estimate. When they came out, they seemed knowledgeable about their work and were able to text me two optional estimates in 20 minutes. They quickly scheduled a repair date for the following day. I met them at the store to purchase materials needed. They completed the job very quickly and very professionally. I was very impressed with their work from all of their team members. They took time to work on the details. After their work, they left a clean yard and porch. I literally didn’t have to do anything except meet them to purchase materials. I ran errands the rest of the day and came home to a beautiful front porch. I will reach out to them directly first for my next home project. I highly recommend them!

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

        • Trim repair:
          • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
          • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
        • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
        • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
          • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
          • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
            • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
