FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to talk to potential students to find out what their piano playing goals are to determine if we would make a good student-teacher match. It's not mandatory, but potential students may come to my studio for an initial in-person meet-the-teacher interview before committing to start lessons. Once we determine that it seems to be a good fit and find a lesson time that works, we are ready to begin lessons!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. in Music from Thomas Edison State University and have been teaching since 2007. I have played in church worship settings, both traditional and contemporary, and in music events with the Huntsville Music Teachers Association. I have studied advanced piano with piano faculty at the University of Alabama Huntsville.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Having taken piano lessons since age 9, I began teaching siblings and neighbors to play while in my freshman year of high school. In 2007 I started teaching my first "official" students and ended up changing my major from accounting to music to support the passion that I had found for teaching music. I launched my studio while studying for my B.A. in Music at Valley City State University in North Dakota. I then finished my degree at Thomas Edison State University in New Jersey in 2012 and have been steadily growing my studio since then.
